Debating Society

14 October 2014

debating-society-webThis year, CHS has decided to launch its very own Debating Society.

All pupils from any year group are welcome to join, (particularly the senior year groups). It will be held on Monday’s at break-time.

Each week pupils learn the rules and technique of debating, hold ‘mini debates’ on current and controversial topics as well as prepare for local and regional competitions.

The art of debating is an extra-curricular activity which is a fantastic skill for all pupils to develop – it helps students to think about and generate their own opinions on hot topics, as well as develop their ability to construct an argument for exams and essays. For senior pupils, it looks great on a CV / UCAS form.

We look forward to a fun and successful first year of debating at Cookstown High School!
