Anti-bullying Week

16 November 2015

Today marks the start of Anti-Bullying week and Cookstown High School has organised a range of activities to highlight and promote the school’s culture of anti-bullying.

On Monday morning all pupils attended a special assembly which highlighted our anti-bullying message.  The Student Council will be contributing to this important focus in a meeting with Mr Brown (VP Pastoral) on Tuesday. Year 8 will attend an annual workshop on Tuesday to promote anti-bullying and resilience.  Year 9 pupils will attend 3 workshops on Friday and throughout the week all pupils in form time will have opportunity to discuss the anti-bullying message with form tutors, by focusing on a number of scenarios and developing an understanding of the Northern Ireland Anti-Bullying Forum’s definition of bullying: “...the repeated use of power by one or more persons intentionally to hurt or adversely affect the rights and needs of another or others.”

You can be part of our commitment to anti-bullying!  Our revised draft Anti-Bullying Policy is uploaded for consultation.  Your comments are welcome!  Please forward them to the school office by Friday 27th November.
