Mid Ulster Carols at Stormont

08 December 2016

Cookstown High School 9Cookstown High School was delighted to be represented at the Mid Ulster Carols at Christmas event in Aid of Charis Cancer Care on Saturday night 3 December. The event was organised by Mid Ulster MLA Sandra Overend and featured musical contributions from the Sperrin Choir, led by former pupil Sam Cuddy, North Worship Band, Rainey Endowed and our own Chamber Choir.

The Chamber Choir was led by Mrs Gormley and sang beautifully a piece written by her called, ‘The gift for me and you’. The Great Hall was hushed as it listened to Year 13 pupil James Marks sing a solo piece called ‘God is with us’ while Deputy Head Boy Ian Brown played ‘Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas’ as a trumpet solo. The evening finished with an epilogue from Bishop of Derry and Raphoe, Rt Rev. Kenneth Good.

This was a wonderful evening, bringing together people from across Mid Ulster into the majestic surroundings of our seat of government while also raising money for a very worthy cause.
