World GIS Day

28 November 2016

IMG 0503 webThe Geography Department once again signed up to take part in World GIS Day on 18th November 2016.

This global event is a great opportunity for pupils to learn about and show-case real-world applications of GIS (Geographical Information Systems) as well as supporting our ethos as a Global Learning school.

This year’s theme was “The Great Geography Map-off” which involved pupils rating their knowledge of and potential risks to climate change.

Over 100 Cookstown High School pupils had the opportunity to take part in this event which included responses from over 7000 pupils from schools around the world, including South America, Australia and Japan!

Well done, Cookstown High School.
