Netball League Success

Congratulations go to Cookstown High School’s Intermediate and Minor Netball Squads who took part in the SELB League Finals on Thursday 22nd January 2015.

The Intermediate squad faced Sacred Heart Newry in their final. Cookstown were always going to have a big challenge on their hands playing against a very experienced side. Despite a valiant effort, Cookstown were beaten to the gold medals losing out to Sacred Heart 24 – 12.

Intermediate Squad: Chloe Bowden (Captain), Amy McAlister, Corie Harkness, Jenny Crozier, Hannah Taylor, Clare Spence, Lauren Reilly, Rebecca Lindsay, Rebecca Mitchell, Andrea Young, Emma -Jayne Taylor, Ellie Parke and Chloe Marks.


The Minor Squad faced St Paul’s Bessbrook in their final. Cookstown had previously been beaten by this team in earlier stages of this competition. This made them more determined to win. Cookstown stepped up their game and dominated the first quarter. They worked tirelessly throughout the match to win 10 goals to 9 in a very tight contest winning the SELB Trophy and the gold medals.

Gold Medals and Shield: Emily Patterson (Captain), Sarah McAlister, Jessica Magee, Hannah Haycock, Hollie Watterson, Sophie Marks, Kim Johnston, Ellen McCrea, Charlotte Acheson, Megan Purvis, Lydia Mitchell, Lauren Drain.

The minors now go through to the quarter of the NI League in February.
