Miss Kelly has joined the Modern Language Department on a Friday afternoon.  She is a final year Spanish & French student at QUB (and former pupil) and plans to apply for a PGCE to become a teacher in the future.  We are delighted to have her back in the Languages corridor and have been very inspired (if not a little jealous!) of her tales from her year out in Mallorca!  Miss Kelly is committed to sharing her experiences of language learning with the pupils and developing ideas and practical tips for her future career.  Please take some time to watch her vlog on her year abroad.

Year 9 have this week been busy developing their Problem Solving skills through an old-fashioned game of dominoes in French.  It’s remarkable how many pupils aren’t familiar with the concept of the game!  The fact that the dots had been replaced with French nouns for the new unit of work “en ville” seems to have compounded the difficulty rating.  Soon pupils were confident using reference materials to solve the translation problems and the game was soon competitive and a bit of fun for all!

Year 9 Spanish have been researching and comparing cultural traditions between Mexico and Northern Ireland at this time of the year.  The Spanish “Dia de los Muertos” investigations have resulted in plenty of unusual findings as well as a beautiful display for the languages corridor.  Well done Yr9.
