Minecraft Edu now in CHS

2nd Apr 2015

Building on the remarkable success of Davaghnav, the mobile app for use by cyclists in Davagh forest, the GTracks App development team has invested in the purchase of MinecraftEdu.  This software will help support further development of coding and problem solving skills in school.

Increasingly the IT industry is seeking people with coding skills and the High School is going to great lengths to make sure the young people who go there have the skills and opportunities they will need.

The software will initially be used in after school clubs and, unlike the regular Minecraft edition, is limited to user groups within the school community.

The school coding club has set itself a goal to construct the entire school or even Cookstown main street in minecraft.

Mr Robert Johnston the Head of the ICT department said, “These developments keep the High School in the vanguard of ICT provision.  We want our pupils to experience access to high quality provision as that will improve the opportunities available to them in school and their chances of meaningful employment after school”.
